“Freedom”

Laurianne Corneille and Anousha Nazari play Sheida Gharachedaghi

Laurianne Corneille and Anousha Nazari deliver a remarkable interpretation of “Freedom,” a flagship work by the first classical Iranian composer, Sheida Gharachedaghi.

This music video, directed and recorded by Raphaël Wertheimer and Cécile Lenoir at the RiffX Studios, at La Seine Musicale, showcases a work by Sheida  Gharachedaghi. This 82-year-old Iranian composer, a true pioneer, left her country during the Islamic revolution in Iran. Sheida Gharachedaghi also founded the Department of Music at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Tehran.

The Iranian classical singer, Anousha Nazari, and the virtuoso pianist, Laurianne Corneille, form a duo in perfect harmony, blending Eastern and Western melodies in a unique way. Together, they make a harmonious pair, embodying the beauty of intercultural musical collaboration.

Their partnership is not limited to just music; they are also united by their passionate commitment to the “Woman-Life-Freedom” movement, advocating for the rights and freedoms of women around the world. Driven by a shared passion and the desire to reflect their convictions through their art, Anousha and Laurianne are hard at work on a multitude of projects. From recording sessions to producing musical films, their ambition is to touch souls, awaken awareness, and bring about positive change through their powerful message. ‘Freedom’ is not just a simple melody; it’s an emblematic song, both enchanting and poignant, that found a particular resonance following the tragic events that occurred in Iran after the death of Mahsa Amini. As we mark the somber anniversary of this passing in September 2022, this music continues to touch hearts and remind us of the importance of freedom and resilience.
