We will stage a new production of La cambiale di matrimonio at the Teatro Rossini on August 8-11-13-17-20. The orchestra will be located in the stalls and the audience will be seated in the boxes.

The opera will be conducted by Dmitry Korchak at his debut as a conductor at the ROF leading the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini and the cast will feature Carlo Lepore (Tobia Mill), Dilyara Idrisova (Fanny), Davide Giusti (Edoardo Milfort), Iurii Samoilov (Slook), Alexander Utkin (Norton) and Martiniana Antonie (Clarina). Staged by Lawrence Dale, sets and costumes by Gary McCann. It will be coproduced with the Royal Opera House Muscat where it will be staged in January 2021. The opera will be paired wit the Cantata Giovanna d’Arco sung by Marianna Pizzolato.

ROSSINI OPERA FESTIVAL

The last performance will be streamed for free on our website for all those people who will not have the chance to be in Pesaro thus maintaining their close bond to our Festival. The last performance will also be screened in the Piazza del Popolo as we traditionally do every year. The Piazza over the last 41 years has become a meeting point for the citizenry and as hosted many illustrious recitals (Marilyn Horne, Montserrat Caballé, June Anderson, Luciano Pavarotti). This year it will once again become a venue for live performances by hosting the famous Emilio Sagi production of Il viaggio a Reims in the context of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda” for two performances on August 12 and 15, featuring alumni from the past editions who are now launched in international careers. The Orchestra Sinfonica G.Rossini will be conducted by Giancarlo Rizzi.

The Piazza will also host six recitals with orchestra featuring some of the most acclaimed rossinian singers of our times: Olga Peretyatko (August 9), Nicola Alaimo (August 10), Jessica Pratt (August 14), Juan Diego Flórez (August 16), the trio of “buffo” basses Alfonso Antoniozzi, Paolo Bordogna and Alessandro Corbelli (August 18), Karine Deshayes (August 19). The orchestra Filarmonica G.Rossini will be conducted by young talents such as Michele Spotti, Nikolas Naegele and Alessandro Bonato.

“We have never given up” says Daniele Vimini, the President of the ROF “and in these past weeks we’ve worked hard to try to explore various options and scenarios. The Sovrintendente Palacio has done an extraordinary job and this years edition which will take place exclusively in the centre of town will be very fascinating and will have a great impact on the Italian audience and we hope likewise for foreigners if travelling will be possible. The relocation of the entire Festival in the Teatro Rossini and the Piazza del Popolo will be a dazzling experience that the city will surely cherish for a very long time”.
